ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WEEKLY GUIDE OCTOBER PART III

Table of contents

Artificial Intelligence, as a concept, has been around and evolving for a long time. The domain has developed to a point where companies are now looking at ways to enhance their workforce to align with machine capabilities, not the other way around. Part III of October’s weekly guide on artificial intelligence focuses on the latest developments in the field including fashion, medicare, etc.

IBM debuts Updated capabilities for Watson Anywhere AI initiative.

IBM Corporation has updated its Watson AI Tools to help customers eliminate some of the data complexities that prevent them from implementing artificial intelligence-based technologies. The updates are part of IBM’s so-called “Watson Anywhere’ initiative that involves scaling AI across any cloud computing platform. Watson Anywhere’s primary objective is to make data accessible to Artificial Intelligence no matter where it’s stored.
Air France – KLM said it had built a new voice assistant called My Interactive Assistant using IBM Watson Assistant with voice interaction. It claimed MIA was able to help improve its customer services by significantly reducing file processing times.

The technology has undergone a drastic change, especially in the fashion industry and in the last couple of years; the retail brands have taken an algorithmic approach to fashion, customers are already experiencing Augmented Reality in the Fashion industry where they can try out dresses without actually having to wear them (Magic Mirror). Artificial Intelligence is one of the emerging technologies across the world, and the fashion world has had its fair share of impact. For example, giants like Forever 21 are now using visual search technology that allows their customers to search for clothing in the same way they think about it.

Narendra Modi urges to build a bridge between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intentions

On Sunday PM Modi urged Technocrats and business leaders to bridge the gap between AI and Human Intentions. He is asserting that his government has been using technology to deliver government schemes on the ground smoothly. The Prime Minister said the centre used several modern techniques including AI, digital mapping, real-time monitoring and data intelligence to distribute eight crores new LPG connections under Ujjawal Scheme within three years. Narendra Modi also outlined that the present government has successfully used technologies to remove silos amongst departments and has been able to build a bridge between supply system and demand, through innovative like Government E-market Place.

CMS believes AI can cut Medicare Fraud

The centres for medicare and Medicaid Services on Tuesday announced that it wants help figuring out how to use technologies like Artificial Intelligence to eliminate fraud and abuse in Medicare and Medicaid. The agency is asking the private sector for advice on how emerging technologies can be used to ensure proper claims payment, reduce paperwork for providers and make sure its program integrity activities are efficient.

IIT Researchers develop low power chips for AI devices

Artificial Intelligence-powered device can now use low power chips. Thanks to the researchers of Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. They have developed Magnetic quantum-dot cellular automata (MQCA) based on nanomagnetic logic architectural design methodology of approximate arithmetic circuits.
Traditionally Electronic phenomena are used for information processing that consumes power supply to maintain its logic states making it volatile. However, the emerging next-generation devices using dipole coupled nanomagnets for computing and information propagation requires no standby power to maintain its logic states, thus making it non-volatile. Hence the magnetic chip design is a potential alternative to CMOS based computing.
