When Kavuma Douglas first considered entering the world of Data Science, the thought was daunting. Douglas comes from a non-technical background with over 11 years of experience in retail fashion and FMCG, yet the thought of tackling programming, math, and statistics felt overwhelming to him. But in today\u2019s data-driven world, he knew that staying relevant meant acquiring new skills and knowledge in Data Science. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing his experience, Douglas says,
\u201cI come from a non-tech background, so enrolling in a program that required programming, math, and statistics was a bit intimidating for me. But we live in a data-driven world, and to stay on top of your game, you need to equip yourself with the proper knowledge and tools. This inspired me to choose Data Science, and I can proudly say that it\u2019s by far the best decision of my life.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Douglas\u2019 extensive experience in sales, merchandising in the FMCG sector provided a solid foundation, but he credits the hands-on tools and resources of the DSBA program for helping him translate his knowledge into actionable insights. Adriana Villa Aguilar: From Curiosity to a Career<\/h2>\n\n\n

She had no experience and had only taken a few online courses, which did not provide her with the practical, hands-on approach she needed. Oluwayinka O. Iseyemi is an ecologist  working at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. She has done her Postdoctoral Research Fellowship from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agriculture Research Service. She had a minor in statistics from college, but she never felt fully confident applying her skills to solve real business problems. Transitioning into Data Science seemed like a natural next step, but it wasn\u2019t until she joined the program that she truly felt empowered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"The program raised my confidence in my transition to becoming a Data Scientist. Despite having a minor in statistics, I wasn\u2019t sure about the practical application of the knowledge. After completing the program, I have gained skills and become confident that I can provide data-driven solutions to help organizations.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Oluwayinka, the program was more than just a series of lessons\u2014it was a confidence-building journey.
