Artificial Intelligence has multiple applications in the healthcare domain. We have also seen many AI solutions being developed to identify symptoms of COVID-19 among patients. Here\u2019s one such case of AI-based screening of visitors at Mumbai railway stations to identify COVID-19 symptoms. Also, the application of Artificial Intelligence in adjusting insulin dose to control glucose levels among Type I Diabetes patients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI-based COVID-19 screening at Mumbai stations<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Body-screening facility \u201cFebriEye thermal cameras\u201d have been set up at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai to scan passengers for COVID-19 symptoms.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FebriEye is an AI-based thermal screening system for real-time and non-intrusive thermal monitoring. It ensures that a person entering the premises does not have a high fever. It uses heat sensors that record the heat generated by a human entity and creates a 2D image showing different temperature levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FebriEye thermal cameras cover a large area and are able to detect the temperature of multiple people entering simultaneously. It records temperature automatically while the passengers are moving.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AI may adjust the insulin dose to manage Type I Diabetes\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Researchers at Oregon Health and Science University have designed an Artificial Intelligence-based method to help people with Type I diabetes manage their glucose levels. The AI algorithm also takes into account automated monitoring and uses data collected from a continuous glucose monitor and wireless insulin pens to guide on adjustments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The algorithm is paired with a smartphone app called DailyDose. This model will help reduce hypoglycemia (low glucose) which can cause coma or death if left untreated.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to glucose control, The algorithm generated recommendations had a high correlation with physician recommendations. Over 99% recommendations by the algorithm, delivered across 100 weeks of patient testing, were deemed safe by the physicians.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
