Global Outliers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These are the points that are the most different from the rest of the values in the entire dataset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> If all students in a test score between 60 and 90, and one student scores just 0 marks \u2014 that is a global outlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-contextual-outliers\">2. Contextual Outliers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These points look strange only when you see them in a particular situation or context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> If a website suddenly gets a lot of traffic at 3 am. This may be normal for a global e-commerce website, but for a local shop site it would be an outlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-collective-outliers\">3. Collective Outliers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These are outliers that look normal when viewed individually, but when many data points are viewed together, they show a strange pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> Imagine a company's stock price is constantly increasing little by little every day, while the rest of the market's stocks keep going up and down. Then this constantly increasing pattern would be considered a collective outlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"outlier-detection-methods\">Outlier Detection Methods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many techniques for identifying outliers \u2014 some are simple (like statistics), and some are complex (like machine learning). Z-Score Method<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What it is:<\/strong> The Z-score tells how far a data point is from the average (mean) \u2014 in standard deviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formula: Z = (x \u2212 \u03bc) \/ \u03c3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>x = data point<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u03bc = mean<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u03c3 = standard deviation (standard gap)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When is an outlier:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Z-score is more than +2 or -2 (i.e. \u2223Z\u2223 &gt; 2 or 3), then it is considered an outlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When to use:<\/strong> When the data is in a normal distribution i.e. bell-shaped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"b-iqr-method-interquartile-range-method\">B. IQR Method (Interquartile Range Method)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What is it:<\/strong> This method divides the data into 4 parts and looks at the range of the middle parts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How it works:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Q1 = Below 25% of the data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Q3 = Below 75% of the data<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IQR = Q3 \u2212 Q1<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Outliers = Data that is below Q1 \u2212 1.5\u00d7IQR or above Q3 + 1.5\u00d7IQR.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>When to use:<\/strong> When the data is skewed or not normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-machine-learning-methods\">2. DBSCAN (Density-Based Clustering)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What it does:<\/strong> This algorithm groups dense data together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How outliers are detected:<\/strong> Points that do not fall into any group and remain alone \u2014 are considered noise or outliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-visualization-techniques\">3. Understand the Data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Take a good look at your data before you start. Know what each column (feature) means and what its normal range is. If you know your domain (field), you can easily spot values that look odd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"2-visualize-the-data\">2. Visualize the Data<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Use charts like boxplot, histogram, scatter plot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With these, you can see at a glance which points look very different from the rest \u2014 these could be your possible outliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"3-choose-a-method\">3. Choose a Method<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose a method based on the type and pattern of your data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the data is normally distributed, the Z-score method is good.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the data is a little skewed or the distribution is not fixed, try methods like IQR (Interquartile Range) or Isolation Forest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"4-detect-outliers\">4.
