I am an Indian Army veteran and a Dental Surgeon with a military career spanning over 14 years with experience ranging from surgical procedures, handling medical emergencies, leading junior doctors, and creating facilities in combat zones\/ high altitude field areas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing my tenure as a Short Service Commissioned officer with the army, I was looking at my second wind to bring my years of experience into a new profession and find a new burst of energy. In my quest of exploring various options in my transition from olive greens to civvies, Data Science came up as the favored choice, an upcoming and emerging technology deeply impacting all businesses and organisations. Though the huge career transition from using dental instruments to understanding ML tools appeared daunting at first, then I became a firm believer that taking on new challenges and giving your best to excel at whatever you take on is something that keeps you alive in the truest sense!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fully aware that I needed a good platform to get a deep understanding of the subject and upskill myself, I was fortunate to find that in the PGP_DSBA course by Great Learning which helped me realize my passion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had my apprehensions about learning through an online medium for a full-fledged course, but those were allayed within my first month into the course. The course is extremely well structured, with really good online study material which gives an in-depth understanding of all the subjects, thus helps to make a sound base; the weekly tests and the projects with each module to help you gauge the application of the knowledge and skills acquired; regular industry sessions to give an exposure of the latest trends and tools and most importantly, the weekly mentor sessions to help you clarify the doubts and bridge any gap in the learning, well suited for working professionals to balance work with the course.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One year of focused learning, dedication, persistence, and patience paid off, and I completed the course with an excellent grade in all the modules and 7th rank in the course and with my newly acquired skills, I was able to get a good offer as a Data Scientist in Stride.ai.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

My advice to the learners starting with their journey is that while one's sentiment towards the start \/shift in a career is very strong, perseverance is the key!! There are no half measures.
