I graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and I've been working at Shell as a Petroleum Engineer for the past two years.I heard about the Great Learning- Data Science Course<\/a> from a friend around May 2020 and joining the course was a no-brainer for me. We live in a time where Data Science and Data Analytics are creeping into every industry faster than we can even imagine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even a \"traditional\" industry, like oil & petroleum is waking up to the benefits of applying data science techniques to the business. Within the next few years ML and automation are going to fundamentally change the way we work (even more so for engineers like me!) and it's important to not get blindsided by it. 12  months after  the course right now, and I've been having a great time learning with peers. The course is designed to be very \"practice\" oriented with plenty of coding and weekly assignments.

I particularly find this useful as I don't get that many opportunities to practice what I learn at work. Another great aspect, which is a plus for me over other data science programs on the internet, is the dedicated student community through which you can learn a lot outside the course structure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I aspire to contribute to the data science initiatives at Shell and eventually transition into a data scientist - engineer hybrid role. I wish best of luck to others out there who are endeavoring like me and  are looking to dwell into similar programs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
