SoapUI is abbreviated as Simple Object Access Protocol User Interface. It is an open-source and cross-platform application used for web service testing for Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and representational state transfers (REST). Functionally, it works on web service inspections, invoking, development, simulation and mocking, functional testing, load and compliance testing. SoapUI Pro is a commercial version that was developed by Eviware Software AB, but it was later acquired by SmartBear Software later in 2011. It primarily focuses on features structure to improve productivity. 

SoapUI was initially deployed to SourceForge in September 2005. It is a free, licensed software under the policies of the European Union Public License. SoapUI has notably been downloaded over a couple of million times since its initial release. SoapUI is built completely on the Java platform, and it makes use of Swing for the user interface. So it is evident that SoapUI is a cross-platform application. The recent version SoapUI is capable of supporting IDEs like IDEA, Eclipse, and NetBeans. The application tests SOAP and REST web services, JMS< AMF, and also make any HTTP(S) and JDBS calls.
