Course outline
Legacy IT vs. Cloud: From CapEx to OpEx Models
Analyze the shift from on-premise data centers (Capital Expenditure/CapEx) to variable cost models (Operational Expenditure/OpEx). Solve legacy challenges like hardware procurement latency and over-provisioning.
Cloud Computing Definition: On-Demand Delivery & Pay-as-you-go
Define Cloud Computing as the on-demand delivery of IT resources via the internet with pay-as-you-go pricing. Differentiate between Compute Power, Database Storage, and Content Delivery resources.
Service Models & Shared Responsibility: IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS
Distinguish between IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service - e.g., EC2), PaaS (Platform as a Service - e.g., Elastic Beanstalk), and SaaS (Software as a Service - e.g., Gmail). Map these to the AWS Shared Responsibility Model.
Cloud Deployment Strategies: Public, Private, Hybrid, and Multi-Cloud
Compare common ways to deploy the cloud: Public (using AWS), Private (on-premise servers), and Hybrid (connecting both). Explore Multi-Cloud strategies to prevent vendor lock-in.
Cloud Security Myths: "Security OF the Cloud" vs. "IN the Cloud"
Debunk myths surrounding data sovereignty and cost. Understand the distinction between Security OF the Cloud (AWS's responsibility) and Security IN the Cloud (Customer's responsibility) regarding compliance and encryption.
Cloud Market Landscape: AWS vs. Azure vs. GCP
Compare the "Big Three" providers: AWS (Amazon), Azure (Microsoft), and GCP (Google) based on market share, service maturity, and global footprint. Focus on AWS's specific value proposition in the ecosystem.
AWS Value Proposition: Agility, Elasticity, and Cost Savings
Explore the six advantages of cloud computing including Trade Capital for Variable Expense, Economies of Scale, Speed and Agility, and Global Reach. Master the concept of Elasticity (scaling up/down).
Global Infrastructure: Regions, Availability Zones (AZs), and Edge Locations
Navigate the AWS Global Infrastructure map. Distinguish between Regions(geographic areas), Availability Zones (AZs) (isolated data centers for high availability), and Edge Locations(CloudFront content delivery points).
AWS Core Domains
This module will help you go through the AWS core domains or AWS core services. You will understand about AWS core services and go through various AWS core service domains to understand the services offered by AWS across the globe.
