1. Computer Science (CS) Engineer
Since the last decade, Information technology services have spread their wings in terms of both revenue and domain, which has opened a plethora of opportunities for engineers across the globe. Digital solutions of services in almost every domain including banking, finance, insurance, healthcare, retail, auto, aero, geo and many more are managed by IT companies. To manage these services, IT industries hire computer science and IT engineers.
Technological advancement over the years has changed the face of the IT industry. It is evolving at a rapid rate, enabling faster development and progress. Industries across the domains have now started realizing the importance of digital transformation and acceleration in business to stay ahead in the game.
The demand for computer science engineers is not going to slow down for many forthcoming years it will proliferate.
The average salary of a computer science engineer in India is ₹ 576,000 per year and that varies based on skillset and experience. Leading giants like Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft etc. offer packages as high as 1 crore to students of some tier 1 colleges like IITs and NITs.

Many colleges across the country have started graduation programmes with specializations in Big Data and Analytics. This is a comparatively new field but is amongst the most promising ones with one of the highest salaries offered. There is a shortage of Big Data engineers in India, and this is an opportune time to get into this field.
The salary range of Big Data Engineers varies from ₹ 3,50,500 p.a. to ₹ 18,00,000 p.a. and more.
4. Mechanical Engineer (ME) – ₹500,000
Another highest paying engineering job is in India is Mechanical engineering and professionals working in mechanical engineering fields involved in engineered planning and manufacturing of new products in heavy manufacturing industries, such as steel, metals, alloys and automobiles. Constructing cost-effective machines and doing relevant and related modifications in the mechanism are the objectives of a mechanical engineer.
With the evolution of automation, mechanical engineers are required to monitor, supervise and fault-diagnose the mechanical systems and that requires a sustained flow of fresh brain in the industry.
Many opportunities are offered in both private, public and public sector undertakings (PSUs) like Steel Authority of India (SAIL), BEL( Bharat Electronics Limited ), BHEL ( Bharat Heavy Electronics limited ), NTPC ( National Thermal Power Corporation Limited ), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited ( HPCL ), Larsen & Toubro ( L&T ), Indian Oil Corporation Limited ( IOCL ), National Aluminum Company Ltd. Though, the salary offered to candidates in this field is based on their skills and knowledge, but on average, the salary offered to mechanical engineers ranges from ₹ 387,000 p.a. to ₹ 21,000,000 p.a. and more.
5. Electronics and Communication Engineer (ECE) – ₹650,000
Electronics and Communication Engineering deals with the study of design, manufacture, installation and operation of electronic equipment, system, machinery, telecommunication systems like radars, sonar, integrated circuits, processors, satellites and many more.
It is probably one of the most ever-growing fields of engineering which offer opportunities across industries in both private and government sectors. In addition to this, electronics and communication engineers play a crucial role in aero-space establishments like Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) in designing satellites, channelling communication systems and automation.
ECE engineers play a major role in the telecom industry as well.
