Because He Stood Behind Me, I Never Stopped Moving Forward

We often overlook the silent heroes of our society; those who provide strength and protect us without wearing capes. A son’s first superhero, and a daughter’s first love.

This Father’s Day, we bring you a touching story of Pancham Sharma, a University of Arizona student, and his father, who not only had immense influence on his success but was the force pushing him to become a better person.

The Hand That Guides: A Father’s Influence

Pancham Sharma’s journey through school, from learning about online businesses to exploring data analysis, has been a path of constant growth. He found his passion in data, seeing how powerful it could be in making smart decisions.

He was especially drawn to how data could change things in areas like supply chains and logistics, where he could truly contribute meaningfully.

However, the real reason for his success wasn’t just his smarts; it was his father’s quiet, firm support. When Pancham told his dad he wanted to study data analytics, there was no doubt, just trust. “He didn’t question it. He trusted me. He believed in me. That quiet encouragement became my biggest source of strength,” says Pancham, recalling the subtle but powerful approval that pushed him forward.

Discipline and Hard Work

Pancham’s father, who served bravely in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, taught him values not by lecturing, but by living them. His life was a perfect example of discipline, resilience, and hard work. These aren’t just empty words, but are the building blocks of a successful life. And fortunately for Pancham, his father had effortlessly shown him how to use it.

Such a childhood makes you realize what it means to be committed. It also teaches that problems are not dead ends, but opportunities to grow and develop. It teaches that true power lies in the ability to bounce back, to keep moving even when times are hard. It is a great lesson that has been taught by example, and such lessons are often more effective than words.

A Father’s Unconditional Love in Tough Times

A father’s sacrifice often shines brightest when things get tough, and it was no different for Pancham. One memory stands out clearly to him as when he was just ten, he got severe jaundice and had to go to the hospital. His father was stationed far away in Ladakh, serving his country. But as soon as he heard the terrible news, his family came first.

“The moment he heard, he took leave and rushed to be by my side,” Pancham recalls, revealing how much he still cherishes the concern his dad showed in that particular moment. He went on to state, That moment defined what unconditional love and presence look like, and it’s something I carry with me even now… Whenever I hit a low point or face a challenge, I remember that strength he showed me, and it keeps me going.”

This was a powerful reminder that a father’s presence, especially when you’re vulnerable, can be a lifelong source of strength.

The Value of Effort and Progress

We all seek perfection, but Pancham learned a different lesson, one that is more liberating, through his father. He stated, “If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that parents don’t look for perfection. They value honesty, effort, and progress.” Pancham emphasizes the importance of involving parents in your journey, not just when you succeed, but also when you struggle.

“If you’re scared of failing, talk to them. Keep them involved. Share your small wins, and even your struggles, they’ll be proud of the journey you’re on, not just the destination.”

Like Pancham’s father, most parents are proud of the efforts and persistence with which the goals are achieved, of the toughness displayed when confronting roadblocks in life. They often try to provide a secure environment that allows their children to falter and learn without fear of being judged.

A Lasting Impact: Inspiration for Today and Tomorrow

All these experiences: the quiet encouragement, leading by example, being there in tough times, and the wisdom about effort over perfection, have shaped Pancham Sharma into the person he is today. “Everything I am today, and everything I strive to become, is rooted in the values my father passed on to me. His support has been my greatest motivator. This powerful statement encapsulates the lasting gift a father leaves behind: a foundation of values and an endless source of motivation.

It displays that the sacrifices of a father are not necessarily some big, dramatic gestures. They are often the silent, consistent actions of love, trust, and advice that form the personality of a child, instill confidence in him, and make him pursue his dreams. These sacrifices are endless hours of labor, foregoing their own desires, having strong faith in their children, and demonstrating emotional strength day by day.

A Lifelong Source of Inspiration

Pancham Sharma’s story serves as a touching reminder of the profound impact that fathers, have on our lives. It encourages us to acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices, big and small, that shape our journeys. His story deeply connects with us, reminding us to express our gratitude to our parents
