success story

Learning is a continuous process. As the trends in the industry change and evolve, upskilling will ensure you stay ahead of the curve. Read on to find out how Nandhini Priya, our PG Program in Product Management and Analytics (PGP-PMA) alumna, learned how to develop new products.

Can you describe your background and job profile?

I did my MBA in Marketing and Operations and worked at a retail product company as Trade Marketing and Modern Trade Sales Executive.

What was your purpose behind learning Product Management?

My experience in retail products made me explore options to get into SaaS-based product companies, and I am curious about the new applications on mobile. Also, I am ambitious about starting my own company in the future, so I thought this would be a learning aid in my career.

How was your Great Learning upskilling experience?

The program was more than how I expected it to be, more detail oriented and practical. I have learned from scratch how to build a product and launch it. The learning content and mentor sessions have been an eye opener to new thoughts and understanding the real need and pain point for a product to be developed. To be honest, it has made me feel confident when it comes to product development on my own.

What did you take away from the program that helped you in your business journey?

My takeaways are the learning and insight that helped me shape the new product role. The Great Learning team has been supportive in clearing queries, understanding the content, and making career decisions.

How were the experience of doing hands-on projects and sprint masterclasses?

It was more interactive and informative as it made me understand the concepts more clearly and understandable. Though the learning content helped me gain knowledge, these projects helped me gain practical knowledge of the same.

Why did you choose Great Learning?

I got what I expected; the program design was more appealing to me. The Great Learning team made me understand how the program would support my career choice and gave me guidance at the early stage. During the program, the team made me feel more comfortable approaching and learning.

And finally, what is the biggest myth about product management you had before joining the program?

The biggest myth is that a product manager needs a CS degree and should be an expert in coding.
