In today’s world, where new concepts are constantly being introduced and technology is changing, it is very important to upskill and learn new skills. Rightly said by Srikanta, learning new concepts has only two outcomes: Learning, or success. There is no failure. Read further to know more of what Srikanta has to say about his journey with Great Learning’s PGP Data Science and Business Analytics.

I started my career with Amazon into Operations and got a transition into the Analytics domain. While I was in Operations, I felt that data is magic and therefore, decided to upskill myself. I am currently working as an MIS Specialist for Data Science team which handles Abuse Prevention and AML Compliance.

I was working as a Senior Risk Analyst for Amazon’s Anti-Money Laundering team.

Data is the new oil, and to get oil, one has to dig deep. My biggest challenge was to dig deep into the Data world, but due to a lack of skills, I was unable to do so. I wanted someone to guide me, and thus I started searching and got to know about Great Learning.

After a lot of research and seeking feedback from Great Learning alumni, I decided I would go for Great Learning.

Online learning was indeed a concern for me, but at the same time, I realized that I could devote more time if I opt for online classes. Also, Great Learning’s curriculum was so organized that it became a very smooth journey for me.

Mentored Learning sessions were extremely helpful. Mentors having industry knowledge and “tips and tricks” actually helped us many times. Also, with the academic part covered by Great Learning, our mentors covered most of the things happening in the real world, which was a bonus for learners. If the learner is determined, then there is an ocean of knowledge we can receive from the mentors.

The best thing about the mentorship that they never spoon-fed us, rather they guided us to explore, and that is where it helped us grow.

A lot of things that I never thought I would learn or understand but thanks to Great Learning for this amazing curriculum. Always try to expand your learning horizons and never hesitate to invest in learning new things. Trying new things which are challenging has two outcomes- SUCCESS or LEARNING. There is no Failure.
