I have been a working woman since I completed my Undergrad and a mother of 2 kids. I have 21 years of Industry experience in IT across Product Development and Cloud Services.
The workplace provides opportunities for everyone. However, the chance to leverage the opportunity invariably depends on personal circumstances faced by everyone. And being a woman, you tend to think before taking up opportunities, as you need to balance your personal and professional work. Unless backed by a strong support system, as a woman it is a challenge to balance work with personal priorities.
Breaks would be needed as per personal situations. I have taken breaks necessitated by family situations. There needs to be an amicable situation at work that helps you catch up with the comeback and give necessary support to deal with the challenges after break. And needless to say, it needs quite an effort from your own end as well.
I have been Interest in understanding more about data, and how data can be leveraged to arrive at meaningful insights that aid in making business decisions. Majority of my tenure at work needed working on databases and BI. This is what pulled me to explore the area of Data Science.
Awareness about that data is present everywhere, and we need to start thinking about how we can make meaningful use of the data around us. Encourage and help them to understand data science and enhance their perception on how to look for meaningful data and how it can be utilized for addressing day-to-day at work.
One advice that I would want to give to aspiring Data Scientists is that learning never stops. Always be enthusiastic and open to learning. Be aware of the surroundings and look for relevant opportunities to enhance your career in Data Science.
I evaluated Great Learning’s course content and found it apt to cover all aspects of what the Data science course needs, that’s why I decided to pursue the course. Great Learning also facilitated alumni connect before enrolling who helped in understanding the advantages of the course, and how it would help in one forming a new perception of looking at data in day-to-day work.
I needed a lot of perseverance to complete the course, as it required attending sessions, completing quizzes and assignments alongside managing personal and work at the office. Unless there is a support system, it becomes challenging to handle all of them in parallel. The teaching faculty and the program coordinators were quite cooperative and helped in completing the course.
The experience in Great Learning helped in developing a new perception of viewing things from an aspect of how to look for meaningful data that can help in the business and day-to-day work.
