Tell us about your professional background.
I completed my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Although some topics interested me, I was not very interested in seeking a job in the mechanical sector. I took up a sales job after my graduation and worked in this role for a few months. Soon after, I realized that I wasn’t a good fit for the job since it was not technically inclined. I wasn’t satisfied and decided to quit my job.
Why Great Learning?
I was always intrigued by the IT sector jobs and wanted to learn new-age technologies and programming. But I was never able to figure out a way to learn these technologies. After I quit my job, I had ample time to research about the IT industry and the different technologies being used in this field. I started reading articles about new-age technologies and eventually, I got to know about Data Science. I was so intrigued by Data Science that I decided to go ahead and take up a course in this field. My friend who had already enrolled in a course at Great Learning suggested the PGP – Data Science and Engineering course for me. He gave me good feedback and through research, I found that the curriculum was amazing.
Tell us about your journey with PGP DSE.
My journey with Great Learning was fruitful. The PGP-DSE program made it quite easy and interesting for me to learn all the tools, programming languages, and everything about Data Science. Before this, I did not have any programming knowledge, but just in 5 months, I was confident about my technical skills. The program is well structured, the regular assignments, quizzes, and exams helped me master tools and techniques of Data Science. The mentors were professional, their teaching style made it easy for me to understand. They were always there to clear all my doubts. Towards the end of the program, I started receiving interview calls from various MNCs and emerging start-ups with impressive job profiles. Initially, when I faced a rejection I was quite disappointed. But Great Learning mentors helped me realize the opportunities in the field and didn’t let me give up.
Finally, I got an opportunity with Collabera Inc. as a Business Analyst. I was really happy that my hard work paid off and will always be thankful to Great Learning for helping me get this opportunity.
