The rise of AI leadership is changing how organisations approach enterprise transformation. According to the IBM Global CEO Study cited by London Business School, the share of organisations with a Chief AI Officer rose from 26% to 76% in one year. The shift reflects the growing need for dedicated leadership around AI strategy, governance, accountability, and enterprise adoption.
London Business School Executive Education has introduced its Chief AI Officer Programme, a five-month blended executive programme designed to prepare senior leaders to lead enterprise AI. The programme uses a learn-by-doing approach, enabling participants to design and run a live AI experiment within their own organisation while learning through faculty and industry-led masterclasses, peer learning, and Programme Director-led check-ins.
London Business School Chief AI Officer Programme
Lead enterprise-wide AI transformation with London Business School. Build expertise in AI strategy, governance, and value creation while developing a practical 100-day AI action plan.
What Does the Chief AI Officer Programme Cover?
The programme focuses on the strategic, organisational, and governance decisions involved in leading AI transformation. Participants explore AI value creation, responsible AI, governance, ethics, Cybersecurity, organisational leadership, and enterprise transformation.
The five-month learning journey progresses from understanding AI and identifying opportunities to leading enterprise-wide AI transformation. It includes sessions on AI technology and economics, AI risk, vertical and agentic AI applications, data and Cybersecurity, organisational change, competition, and scaling AI value across the enterprise.
How Does the Programme Help Leaders Apply AI?
A central feature of the programme is its live AI experiment. Participants identify a priority business challenge, define hypotheses, decision rights, risks, and success measures, and run the experiment within their own organisation. Three online check-ins between the campus immersions provide opportunities to review progress, exchange insights, and refine the initiative.
The programme concludes with participants translating their experimental learning into a 100-day Enterprise AI action plan, connecting AI opportunities with organisational priorities and practical next steps.
Programme Delivery and Learning Experience
The programme combines two four-day immersions at London Business School with live online masterclasses, experiment check-ins, and guided reflection. The two campus immersions provide eight days of face-to-face learning alongside a global cohort of senior leaders.
Participants also engage with AI practitioners and London Business School faculty through strategic discussions, simulations, and applied learning. Board-level role-play exercises focus on influencing stakeholders, securing support, and driving enterprise-wide AI adoption.
Who Is the Programme For?
The Chief AI Officer Programme is designed for senior leaders with at least 10 years of experience. This includes C-suite and senior business executives, aspiring Chief AI Officers, technology, digital and data leaders, and transformation, strategy, and innovation leaders.
No prior background in coding, AI, Data Science, or a technical discipline is required.
Faculty and Industry Expertise
The programme brings together London Business School faculty, industry practitioners, and executive education expertise. Faculty and experts listed in the brochure include Professor Michael G. Jacobides, Professor S. Alex Yang, Professor Kathleen O'Connor, Yuri Romanenkov, Professor Oliver Hauser, and futurist Graeme Codrington. Rahul Dhadphale serves as Programme Director.
