It is not necessary that a marketing campaign will always succeed, failures may occur, and it’s important to know how to tackle the failure. A contingency plan must always be ready no matter what. It is important to take a step back and go into reassess. Take a look at your customers again, and then reassess your campaign’s voice and image. Reduce the number of buyer personas we were focusing on, thus reducing the width of your target audience. Create highly targeted material for this audience and then look again at the performance of your campaigns and optimize accordingly.

There are various metrics that help gauge success. The most important ones that I consider are:

  • Leads, Conversions, and bounce rate – Basically the number of leads or target audience that arrived, the leads that were converted into customers, and the leads that bounced off 
  • Return on Investment – The income generated and the difference between the amount invested and the sales generated.

Defining the target audience is the first step, followed by using various available marketing channels to ensure that the new product reaches the target audience. Providing the right content to the audience as they are at the beginning of the funnel and then creating different kinds of content as the customer moves ahead in the buyer journey. Understanding the competition and analyzing what they are doing and then bringing in changes to do things differently are some of the steps that will be followed when it comes to managing a new product launch.
