No, a GATE score is not required for registration. The e-Postgraduate Diploma is open to all eligible candidates who meet the academic requirements.

The registration process comprises three steps:

1. Application: Candidates must submit an online application form. 

2. Online Test and Screening: Candidates will take an online test to assess foundational knowledge, followed by a screening call with the Registration Office. 

3. Offer of Registration: Selected candidates will receive an offer letter and must pay the registration fee within seven days to confirm their seat.

Yes, Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have completed their higher education in India may apply for the ePGD, provided they can fulfill all ePGD requirements and attend the in-person examinations on the IIT Bombay campus.

Candidates with qualifications from institutions outside India may apply, provided the institution is recognized by IIT Bombay. The Educational Outreach Office will verify the recognition status before registration.

The fee structure for this e-Postgraduate Diploma is as follows: 

Registration Fee: ₹60,000 + GST (payable within 7 days of receiving the offer letter). 

Course Fee: ₹90,000 + GST per course (6 courses in total). 

Multiple courses may run simultaneously, and fees must be paid accordingly.

Refund Policy: Withdrawal requests must be sent via official email to the Program Office; the email date will be treated as the official withdrawal date. 

 • For Courses in Term 1: 

– If only registration fee paid: 50% refund before or up to the start of classes; no refund after. 

– If registration + course fee paid: 100% refund of course fee before registration close; 70% refund before registration closure and start of classes; no refund after classes begin. 

• For Courses after Term 1: 

– No refund of registration fee. 

– 100% refund of course fee before registration closes; 70% before start of classes; no refund after classes begin. 

• Processing fee of ₹1,000 applies to all refunds. 

• No refund for completed courses.

Candidates may apply for course deferral within the first two weeks from the start of academic delivery. The deferral request will be reviewed by the concerned academic unit and approved at their discretion. Once approved, a deferral fee of ₹2,000 per course will be applicable. The ePGD must be completed within 36 months, including any deferrals. Applications submitted after two weeks will not be accepted.

The ePGD can typically be completed within 18 months by earning 12 credits every six months. However, candidates must complete all requirements within a maximum of 36 months, including any deferrals, to remain eligible for the diploma.

Successful ePGD graduates will gain access to IIT Bombay’s Lateral Hiring Group, managed by the IIT Bombay Placement Cell. Job postings and lateral opportunities are shared within this group. Candidates are responsible for their own job applications. Campus placement opportunities are not provided for ePGD participants.

Candidates must complete the onboarding process before the ePGD orientation. This includes submitting academic and identity documents such as marksheets, degree certificates, Aadhaar card, passport-size photo, and an undertaking of work experience. Candidates must also register on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) and generate an APAAR number. Upon verification, they will be assigned a unique registration number by the Educational Outreach Office (EOO). Offline verification will occur during the end-term examination on campus.

Yes. Candidates are required to visit the IIT Bombay campus for in-person end-term examinations for each course and for the convocation ceremony. Access to other campus facilities outside these designated periods is not permitted.

Yes. All end-term examinations are conducted in person at the IIT Bombay campus. Attendance for these exams is mandatory. Candidates who do not attend will not pass the respective course, regardless of performance in other components.

No. ePGD candidates will not have access to IIT Bombay’s online library resources. However, they will receive learning materials and resources relevant to each course through the online learning management platform.

Each course typically runs for 16 weeks, including 12 weeks of live faculty and TA sessions, a one-week mid-course break, and time for mid-term and end-term exams. The detailed schedule is shared before the start of each course.

There are four live faculty sessions each week, each lasting 1.5 hours. Two sessions are scheduled on weekdays after 7 PM, and two on weekends. An optional one-hour TA session is conducted over the weekend for doubt resolution.

Yes. The Capstone Project forms part of the “AI-ML in Practice” course and is conducted in a group format, allowing candidates to apply the knowledge gained across courses to solve real-world problems.

The ePGD is designed to be completed comfortably within 18 months. However, candidates must complete all 36 credits within a maximum duration of 36 months, including any approved course deferrals. Deferrals mid-course or beyond two weeks of course commencement are not permitted.
