I was born in Andhra Pradesh and am currently working in Bangalore as a Computer Science Faculty. I’m 51 years old and have 14+ years of experience in the teaching industry. I hold degrees in MCA, M.Sc(IT), B.Ed, and MS(Data Science), and initially pursued MCA with the goal to become a professor, which I have almost achieved. My interest towards coding and databases led me further into the field, though I didn’t get the support at all from my family. However, I was supported by my boss and a family friend, which kept me going. I have always been interested in working with and analyzing data, and the learning journey was really good and tough as well. The sessions and project assignments helped me develop key tangible skills such as programming in Python and R, and data analysis using AI and ML. I also enhanced my intangible skills, including critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. I was initially weak in mathematics, and I learnt that through this program via sessions and group discussions with friends. Though I feel more live sessions on the practical approach would have helped, to some extent it did help me guide my students. I unexpectedly discovered the value of networking with peers, which enriched my learning experience. I also found that data science applies to diverse fields like healthcare and transportation, and additionally, my problem-solving skills developed. My new skill set has broadened my career opportunities in data science, making me more competitive. I've also gained confidence and improved my critical thinking and collaboration skills. One valuable connection I made during my program was with a fellow student who shared insights about internship opportunities. I aspire to secure a data science internship to gain experience and transition into a full-time role. One of my most fulfilling moments was successfully completing my first machine learning project, where I built a predictive model. Seeing my code yield meaningful insights solidified my passion for data science. Before completing the program, I had a limited understanding of data science and its applications. After that, I gained valuable skills and confidence, broadening my career opportunities and igniting my passion for data-driven problem-solving. I wanted to gain more detailed knowledge and a recognized certification. I saw this program as one of the best in the industry, and it felt like the right step to advance my career. The experience was great. The faculty were excellent, and the program was well-structured. It offered a combination of online recorded sessions and weekly meetings with industry leaders. These sessions were very detailed, and the way they handled questions was impressive. Everything was clear, and I felt well-supported throughout the program. It was a very positive experience working with them. The Olympus portal was very user-friendly. You could access everything with just a click, whether it was videos or the Great Learning community where we could ask questions. The portal made the learning process smooth and efficient. After completing the program, I continued applying for jobs on my own, but the consistency in using the portal paid off. Two years later, I applied through the portal again and landed a job. The key was staying consistent—success didn’t come overnight, but the steady effort made a difference. I received multiple job offers, but the one from Data Foundry stood out to me. The company focuses on clinical trials and the pharmaceutical industry, which really attracted me. The work in Data Science related to the medical field was something I found particularly compelling compared to other offers I received. This alignment with my interests made accepting the job an easy decision.
