Introduction to JavaScript

JavaScript is often represented as js. It is considered a text-based programming language that helps in creating network-oriented applications. It is also a lightweight interpreted language that enables you to create both client-side and server-side interactive applications.

JavaScript is considered one of the in-demand and popular programming languages that help to build an interactive and engaging front-end and back-end through its various frameworks. You can say JavaScript is one of the most comfortable languages that engages itself with the most popular web browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and many more. You may have a thought regarding why Javascript is so popular among these web browsers. The answer is that JavaScript provides massive support to these web browsers to build very engaging user interfaces, which is their core goal. It provides entities to create unique websites which are eye-catching and provides a tremendously fast environment setup.

Nowadays, these browsers are closely dependent on JavaScript platforms. Hence, they come with JavaScript installed by default. Not only is it browser supportive, but also it has grown to be used along with android development and game development for a great user experience. This is where you can expect a lot more opportunities to be opened for the developers who want to try more JavaScript and its various frameworks. Hence, there is a high demand for jobs with handsome pay for JavaScript enthusiasts.

If you are new to JavaScript, you must first get a hold of the introduction to JavaScript to do all the above-listed tasks. Once you are familiar with its layout and structure, you can start aiming at higher perspectives as a developer. A few of the concepts that you must be aware of if you want a brief introduction to JavaScript are variables, functions, loops, array, operators, and more.

To get an introduction to JavaScript, you must first understand the JavaScript basics for beginners. They are:

  • Variables: You may know that variables are nothing but the storage space for values defined. You have three ways to declare the variables: var, let, and const. You can express many variables in one statement with a comma separating these variables. You can also re-declare these variables. Still, the surprising thing is that the variables will retain their previous value after the execution, unlike in other programming languages where the values are overwritten.

  • Identifiers: To identify these variables of JavaScript, they should be denoted with unique names called identifiers which protects from facing many errors regarding mishaps in variable identification. These identifiers also follow a set of rules and are case-sensitive.

  • Data types: JavaScript variables are capable of holding many types of data like numbers and texts. Numbers are written without any need for quotes. The texts are written in between quotes and are denoted as strings.

  • Assignment operator “=”: You may be familiar with the equal sign “=” in algebra, which we often use. In programming, “=” is considered an assignment operator where a variable is assigned some value, and this is conveyed through this assignment operator in JavaScript.

  • Let: Let is a way of declaring the variables. The primary feature of let is that it can’t be re-declared; if you are going to declare a variable through let, it should be pre-declared, and let provides the block scope; that is, you can have global and function scope. The declaration between the block “{ }” can’t be accessed by any other function or block. Likewise, const also supports one such approach whereas, var doesn’t follow this approach. Var helps re-declaration, which many times leads to further issues. Many modern browsers think highly of this let approach and have involved themselves in using it efficiently.

  • Hoisting: Hoisting in JavaScript is settling all the declarations made to the top of the current script or function, the current scope. This feature is the default in nature in JavaScript and hoisting the initialization is not done in it. The variables defined with the let and const approach are hoisted at the top but are not initialized. Hoisting is one approach that many developers appreciate and accept because it makes their job a bit easier by reducing the number of bugs. JavaScript also understands and appreciates this approach better and considers it to be a good rule of interpretation.

  • Operators: Coming to operators in JavaScript, you can recognize the basic operators like,

  • Assignment operator “=” (used to assign values to the variables.)

  • Addition operator “+” (used for adding numbers.)

  • Subtraction operator “-” (used to reduce or subtract the numbers.)

  • Multiplication operator “*” (used to multiply numbers.)

  • Division operator “/” ( used for division of numbers.)

  • Exponential operator “**” ( used to find the exponentiation)

  • Modulus operator “%” ( used to find the division remainder.)

  • Increment operator “++” (used for defining increments.)

  • Decrement operator “--” (used for determining decrements.): There are many other well-defined operators in JavaScript. Those as mentioned above are just the primary operators. There are many different operators like comparison operators, logical operators, bitwise operators, and type operators.

  • Functions: Functions in JavaScript are nothing but a set of rules written in a block to perform the defined particular operations or tasks. These functions get real and run when it is initiated or invoked, or is called.

The syntax of these functions is like, first to know that the block is a function by the keyword function mentioned compulsorily to declare the function. Then comes the function’s name and then follows the parentheses where you state your parameters for the functions where a comma separates these parameters.

Why choose the Introduction to JavaSCript course?

As informed above, JavaScript is a programming language with high demand in terms of job opportunities. It can give you handsome pay for creating one of the fast, innovative, engaging user interfaces. Not only can you develop these web applications, but also you can jump to building android applications. All the modern web browsers depend on JavaScript to get an insane benefit from the better features provided by JavaScript and its various frameworks.
