PPT - Add New Slides

There are multiple ways to insert a new slide in PowerPoint. The most frequently used is to click on the New Slide option which can be found in the Home Tab in the ribbon.

Office Themes, Duplicate Selected Slide, and Reuse Slides are the other options for adding a slide.

1) Adding a slide using Office Themes:

  • Click on the small triangle at the corner of the New Slide button in the ribbon. A menu opens up and this is known as Office Themes.
  • It will show the various office themes or different types of slide presets available.
  • Choose and click on the slide that best meets your needs to add it to your presentation.

2) Adding a slide using the Duplicate Selected Slide option:

  • Choose the slide you'd like to replicate.
  • Click the New Slide button's drop-down arrow in the Home tab to open the Office theme menu.
  • Click on the Duplicate Selected Slide button to duplicate the slide.

3) Adding a slide using the Reuse Slides option:

  • Choose the slide where you want the new slide to appear.
  • Click the New Slide button's drop-down arrow in the Home tab to open the office theme menu.
  • Choose Reuse Slides from the drop-down menu.
  • Then select Browse File from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the slide you wish to import from the presentation.

You can also find the insert slide and duplicate slide option when you right click on a slide. It opens up a menu where these options can be found. When you insert a slide using these options, the format of the slide you are presently on automatically gets copied to the new slide. You can change the format by right clicking on the new inserted slide and choosing the option “Layout” and then choosing the layout that best fits you.

You can insert slides before, after or in the middle of any two slides. Just select the slide you want the new slide to be inserted after and then add the new slide.
